RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the activities (and review work as needed) of direct reports including Payroll, A/R, A/P, and additional Admin.
  • Review, recommend, coordinate, and enforce all accounting policies within the company and coordinate consistency of policies with the other subsidiaries.
  • Standardize all accounting processes, reports and closing procedures for accurate monthly reporting.
  • Prepare monthly WIP schedule and review with PMs and Senior VP.
  • Prepare the monthly financial statements and all other monthly reports (insurance, field service,) and provide to management by pre-determined deadlines.
  • Prepare quarterly financial statement packet and submit it in a timely manner.
  • Review daily banking transactions and record in accounting system (transfers and cash receipts).
  • Prepare monthly salary payroll journal entry and post in accounting system.
  • Prepare monthly intercompany invoices, record intercompany invoices received from parent company.
  • Analyze the adequacy of the company’s Workmen’s comp reserves and adjust monthly as needed (includes participating in bi-annual claim review meetings).
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Complete all annual reporting requests as it relates to worker’s compensation, annual census reporting, etc.
  • Lead the annual year end audit and handle any union or customer audits that may arise.
  • Employ organizational skills that effectively minimize obstacles that negatively impact the workplace.
  • When obstacles arise, employ sound decision making/problem solving skills to resolve the issue.
  • Assist in locating, hiring, and supervising accounting personnel as necessary.
  • Address accounting/tax issues as they arise.
  • Maintain solid communication with department team members through team meetings, on-on-one meetings, and continuous feedback.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Related Field
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Eight years of construction accounting experience utilizing a computer-based system of accounting and job costing.
  • Medium to Advance Excel skills
  • Computer hardware and software, including: Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, Outlook, Word, Access, and PowerPoint); experience with construction software Viewpoint or similar SQL Server based construction software.
