RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be a key member of the plant leadership team that helps drive operational and financial improvements
  • Lead and/or be a participant in cross-functional teams that drive cost improvements and continuous improvements for all plants
  • Lead cost accounting support for a high volume, fast paced, consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing plant generating over $200M COGM
  • Accountability for the month-end close process, ensuring completeness and accuracy of reported financial results
  • Complete ownership of annual budget process, quarterly forecast process, and monthly estimates on current quarter
  • Presentation of actual results and forecasts to VP and GM of the division as well as corporate finance
  • Full control over raw and packaging materials, work in progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory including coordination and control on regular stock counts and reconciliations
  • Ensure accuracy of and provide approval for journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Management of contract manufacturing financials
  • Responsible for ensuring completion of Annual Standard Cost Rolls for all plants
  • Assist with efficiency initiatives and M&A analysis related to potential manufacturing cost synergies
  • Perform standard cost and variance analysis and identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Provide general finance support for manufacturing and operations groups
  • Responsible for the selection and training of employees; planning, assigning, directing work and development; appraising employee performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems and disputes
  • Establish disciplines and accountability related to inventory adjustments (finished goods and components) along with purchase price variances
  • Handle inquiries from internal and external auditors in all areas of cost of goods; including inventory observations, cost tests and year-end audits
  • Use knowledge of GAAP to constantly review accounting practices and improve the methods of accounting treatments in accruals, expense/income classification and standard cost

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance / MBA & CPA preferred
  • 10+ years of finance work experience
  • 5+ years of managerial experience
  • Experience in cost and inventory accounting
  • Experience in high volume, fast paced CPG manufacturing company
  • Proficiency in Windows applications
  • Proficiency in SAP preferred
  • Proficient as advanced level Microsoft Excel user
  • Effective verbal and written communication/presentation skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization
  • Strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills
