RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ownership of all periodic financial reporting and the underlying monthly financial close process. This includes producing financial statements on-time in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and commentary that identifies unusual items and drivers of change.
  • Lead, manage and coach accounting staff to improve staff knowledge and efficiency of financial processes while maintaining sufficient internal controls.
  • Ownership of the external audits for financial statements, insurance, sales and use tax and other audits as needed. Ensures financial systems are reliable and ready for audit; all accounts have up to date work papers printed and reviewed.
  • Contribute to strategy formulation, development and implementation to maximize profitability and create long term value by understanding the underlying businesses and their drivers.
  • Assists in financial planning and analysis activities including forward-looking budgets, forecasts, and long-range planning.
  • Ensure all taxes are recorded and paid accurately and timely. Works with external tax preparers by supplying requested information, monitoring progress and ensures tax returns are filed timely.
  • Leadership and responsibility for all day-to-day activities of the accounting department, which includes accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, credit, fixed assets, general ledger and financial reporting.
  • Prepares complete monthly financial statements and related commentary timely and accurately which comply with generally accepted accounting principles. Analyzes and interprets financial statements and reports to provide management with data to support decisions and strategy.
  • Guides financial decisions by developing and monitoring financial policies and procedures which enhance internal controls.
  • Ensures monthly, quarterly, and annual state sales and use tax returns are prepared timely and accurately.
  • Complete monthly AR aging and bad debt reserve analysis.
  • Prepare, post, and review journal entries; prepare and review account work papers.
  • Provide detailed recommendations for updates to policies and/or compliance and implement improvements.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A degree in business, finance or accounting preferred.
  • Current license as a certified public accountant is very desirable.
  • Proven successful track record in accounting and financial work including relevant skills.
  • Ability to take initiative & problem solve while applying critical thinking to decisions.
  • Analytical and technical skills, including strong knowledge and application of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Results driven, with the confidence to make decisions and judgments quickly.
  • Organizational skills with a sense of urgency,
  • This position may require up to 10% travel anywhere in United States.
