Accounting Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform ongoing monthly account reconciliations including remediation of open items, ensuring compliance of support documentation and proper classification of balances to ensure financial integrity as well as work to improve the balance sheet reconciliation process. This will include reviewing, investigating, and correcting errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Review month-end balance sheet reconciliations of senior accountants.
  • Review monthly financial statements, analyzing for unexpected variances in preparation of CFO’s financial statement review.
  • Responsible for various cost accounting functions including monitoring and updating of standard costs in the accounting system. This includes items with landed costs & working with Bill of Materials & component parts.
  • Prepare, update, run and disperse month end commission reporting for account managers and management. This reporting is created from multiple Excel reports and includes a lot of links and formulas which demand a lot of attention to detail.
  • Review daily billing batches for commission issues and address changes in the commission structure that may be required.
  • Update, run and disperse monthly TPR product reports to account and region managers.
  • Review account managers mileage as tracked by TripLog, a mileage tracking system, and investigate any unusual variances. Update the quarterly auto allowance calculation and provide new allowance amounts to HR for payroll.
  • Collect customer contracts and rebate forms, calculate and prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual & yearend rebates.
  • Help prepare year-end reports to support external accountant review and tax preparation.
  • Develop technical understanding of the Great Plains modules and an in-depth knowledge of business processes to recommend process improvements as well as to perform a variety of ad hoc analysis and special projects as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • 3-5 years related experience required with a basic knowledge of US GAAP along with the desire to conduct appropriate research on topics, and familiarity with financial statements, general closing procedures, and internal controls.
  • Public Accounting experience is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Candidate must be able to effectively communicate with individuals across various functions within St. Louis and around the country.
  • Candidate must have strong problem-solving skills including the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, as well as gather and analyze information skillfully.
  • Candidate must be self-directed, organized, and resourceful. Candidate is expected to help design the process, find improvements, make recommendations, and implement changes.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with Great Plains, SSRS Reporting and/or Microsoft Access are preferred.
