Accounting Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Accounting Manager will delegate, supervise, and participate in accounting department tasks, oversee the recording, tracking, and reporting of financial information, hire, train, and motivate accounting staff members, develop and implement department controls and procedures, and ensure that the department operates efficiently without sacrificing accuracy.

  • Evaluating, developing, and improving department controls, systems, and procedures that increase accuracy and efficiency.
  • Overseeing the daily activities of the accounting department and ensuring that all major projects, month-end, and year-end reports are completed accurately and on time.
  • Prepare and review journal entries and general ledger transactions.
  • Responsible for daily, month-end, and year-end adjusting entries.
  • Perform account reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies. Oversees and reviews account reconciliations not performed by the Accounting Manager.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of financial statements, reports, and analysis.
  • Interpret financial reports and provide insights to senior management.
  • Manages the daily, weekly and monthly treasury function.
  • Reconciles interest income, interest expense, bank charges and other cash reconciliations.
  • Monthly bank reconciliations
  • Assists with preparation of financial audit and tax return workpapers.
  • Prepares responses to questions related to external and internal audits. Works with managers to respond to audit/exam findings.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and sales/use tax filings.
  • Provides assistance to executive management.
  • Assisting other departments as they develop strategies, establish objectives, and make decisions that could have a financial impact on the business.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in Management Accounting
  • Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and management principles.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Experience implementing and working with information technology and ERP systems.
  • High level of efficiency and accuracy
  • Attention to detail and ability to analyze large amounts of data
  • Transactional analysis and modeling skills.
  • Ability to shift priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, written, and presentation skills.
