Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that timely, accurate financial reports are produced for our clients on a monthly/quarterly basis
  • Provide support and guidance to managers to ensure they are understanding the financial operations and reporting properly to our clients
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting, including operating analysis for the company
  • Oversee, direct and organize the work of the accounting operations staff handling accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Mentor and develop staff using supportive and collaborative approach
  • Contribute to the development of strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization
  • Respond to and resolve issues and requests from management team and clients regarding various accounting issues and reports
  • Participate in new property/client transitions including setting up beginning balances and other information in accounting software
  • Maintain continuous lines of communication both with company officers and staff to ensure all parties are informed of critical issues that impact their decision making
  • Develop and administer financial management policies and procedures and ensure that effective internal control systems are in place and accounting procedures are followed
  • Ensures compliance with all state and local tax requirements including production of 1099's, 401K plan reporting, etc.
  • Cooperate with accountants for annual tax filing and audits for the company and the company's clients
  • Play an integral role in the annual review of the company's insurance package

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business related field; CPA or MBA a plus
  • Three or more years of professional accounting experience
  • Ability to manage and develop staff
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring and supervisory skills
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of general accounting including accounting terminology, procedures, reporting and methodologies
    • A/R, A/P, P/R, G/L, tax payments, financial statement preparation, month end and quarterly closing, journal entries and general ledger maintenance, fixed assets, margin analysis
  • Strong organization, verbal and written communication skills
  • Available to work extended hours on occasion to ensure deadlines are met
  • Advanced computer aptitude, especially with Microsoft Excel, Word and accounting software programs
